Disappointed

Like the creature from a bad monster movie, I'm back, crawling out from primordial ooze which spawned me, just in time for the low-budget, direct-to-DVD sequel halapaloza. It's been an interesting week, battling all manner of contagious diseases and a bad case of insomnia. Much effort has been made, little has been achieved. The day of reckoning draws ever close while the monster of procrastination nips at my heels. Still, my reckless daredevil nature leaves little room for such trivialities as logic and stress, and I find myself pleasantly detached and illogically optimistic. Things will work out in the end.

A feeling I share with the majority of the American voting public, who's feelings of relief at the Obama victory has been almost palpable, even to my disease-ridden senses. He won, and the republican president is due to be sworn out next year, heralding the beginning of the reign of the democrats.

But I'm sure more then enough of my schoolmates are covering that subject, so I'm gonna instead dedicate myself to other things. Namely, proposition 8. Now, for those of you who don't know, Proposition 8 was a suggested ammendment proposed in California, attempting to overturn the recent decision to legalize gay marriage. Not too long ago, the state of California legalized gay marriate, which upset a few fundamentalist, who thus began lobbying for marriage to remain "sacred". And they won. California sizeable gay population's right to marry is gone.

I don't understand it, I just don't. I mean, what is it that so upsets people about this? They're not marrying you, they're not in any way stepping on anybody's right. I just... I don't get it. But what I do get is the legal implications of it. California is an influential state and this, this could be the spark that set back the equality debate another ten years. But I don't know what to say, I'm too disappointed in humanity to find the words. So I'll let this guy do it for me.
